About Us
The VALCO Trust Fund was established through a historic understanding between Mr. Edgar Kaiser of VALCO Aluminium Company Limited and Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. This partnership led to the execution of a Trust Deed on October 23, 1971, by the Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO), the Volta River Authority (VRA), and the first group of appointed Managing Trustees.
The Trust officially commenced on January 1, 1996, with an agreement that VALCO would annually contribute a portion of its earnings into the Fund. These resources are directed toward education and other charitable projects that benefit the people of Ghana.
The VALCO Trust Fund was legally recognized under the Trustees (Incorporation) Act, 1962 (Act 106), and was formally registered on March 15, 1972 (Certificate No. X 0182), under the authority of the then Commissioner for Lands and Mineral Resources.
